Paul’s Quality Collision was founded by Paul Van Aken in 1982 and was initially called Paul’s Body Shop, located on W. Seventh St. in Monroe. The company moved to its present Telegraph location in 1991. Paul’s wife, Tammi, joined the company as the office manager at that time. From 1992 to 2006, it operated as a franchise – Paul’s CARSTAR Collision. After the Van Akens left CARSTAR, they renamed the business Paul’s Quality Collision.
Education has played a critical role in the company’s success. In the mid-eighties, Mr. Van Aken began to travel to industry educational opportunities and visit leading companies, learning from their owners. As a result, and after a great deal of research and planning, the present location was professionally designed and built to be highly efficient as a collision repair business.
Opening in 1991, it was the most modern collision repair facility in Monroe County. Computers became essential instruments of the administrative and production systems. The offices were built to provide pleasant and comfortable customer areas with a layout that facilitates optimum employee performance. The shop area was climate-controlled for employee comfort and productivity. It was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and tools and has remained on the cutting edge of repair technology since.
Continued company growth prompted a shop addition of 5,000 square feet in 2018. Included in the addition was a second paint booth, a dedicated aluminum repair bay, a state of the art wheel alignment bay, an additional detail bay, and many other upgrades.
